What did you do last summer?

There is such a variety of activities on the Costa Tropical no matter what you did last summer I am sure that you will be able to do the same and even more here on the Costa Tropical.

Many clients in the summer are happy to relax and enjoy the sun at their rental villa on the Costa Tropical, however, if you prefer to be more active then there are plenty of opportunities for both children and adults to enjoy themselves.

AquaTropic – The water park in Almunecar is a popular local destination for a day out particularly for teenagers and families with children, located close to the center of Almunecar and on the shore of the Mediterranean this will not be as relaxing as sitting next to the pool of your rental villa but a lot more fun!

Las Tabernas, Almeria – A little bit of Hollywood and the Wild West just beyond the Costa Tropical. Visit the western sets in Almeria.

Mountaineering – for keen climbers there are plenty of opportunities in the Sierra Nevada to climb mountains. Just outside Salobrena (about a five minute drive there is an impressive gorge which provides a sheer rock face – probably over a hundred metres high.

Water sports – windsurfing, kitesurfing and scuba diving are probably the three most popular water activities along the coast but there are also sailing trips available as well as motorised equipment.

Paragliding – there are a number of associations and businesses in the area which provide the opportunity for enthusiasts to get a bird’s eye view of the Costa Tropical.

Nerja Caves – for those who enjoy a bit of spelunking or even keen speologists the massive cave complex at Nerja will provide a cool contrast to the outdoor heat. This popular tourist attraction is just a few minutes drive from the Costa Tropical.

Sightseeing – Granada (45 minutes from the coast) is home to the most popular and famous Spanish tourist attraction – the Alhambra Palace and is well worth a visit. (In addition there are various attractions on the coast including medieval castles and Roman ruins)

Almunecar Aquarium – the newly opened aquarium is the largest in Andalucia.

Horse riding – If a visit to the western set in Almeria ignites a desire to go horse riding along the beaches or in the hills of the Costa Tropical there are several local riding schools including one in each of Salobrena, Almunecar and La Herradura.

This is not intended to be a complete list but more of a sample or taste of what is on offer on the Costa Tropical. Despite being relatively uncommercial tourist detination (which is what appeals to many visitors) there is a very broad range of activities – others include frequent concerts, a large bird park (Lori Sexi), wildlife park (Peña Escrita), bike hire, quad bikes, exploring the old villages of the Alpujarras, museums, shopping and excellent restaurants and I could continue but the activities above should keep you busy for at least a week. More details of the various attractions can be found by going to our information pages for the Costa Tropical, Almunecar, La Herradura, Salobrena and Motril.

If you can think of other activities here which you would like to see mentioned, want to include your experiences while on holiday here or simply have a question about any of the above ask below.
