Ryan Air Contemplating Higher Fares for Larger Passengers

If you want more incentive to lose some pounds for your summer holiday Ryan Air have announced that they may introduce an excess weight charge on passengers. This is still just at the review stage but they are thinking of following South West’s (USA) policy of charging larger than normal people for two seats. Whether this entitles you to an extra large life jacket in the worst of circumstances is doubtful!
This new idea has been forwarded after the introduction of the charge to use the toilets during the flights. It is reported this time that the excess fare will charged be for men over 20 stone and women at 15 stone (- why there is a difference based on sex is beyond me and seems to be moving in a dangerous direction!). So if you are a few pounds over then this may work as a good incentive to try too drop a pound or two for the Costa Tropical beaches – just try not to put it back on while here.
I do emphasise this is still at the discussion stage and may well not get off the ground.
