For those on holiday here at the beginning of February there is a good excuse to explore inland towns just behind Salobrena. In this area you find Lobres and Molvizar and just beyond the interesting towns/villages of Guajar which date back to Moorish times.
Lobres is celebrating one of the local fiestas in the coming week beginning on Tuesday but with the majority of the events held towards the end of the week. Although the weather has been impressively unpredictable this year it looks as if we are going to enjoy an extended period of warm weather – at least during the day for the next few weeks – but no promises though.
I hope you notice that as a reward for attending the early morning celebrations on Sunday there are free churros and chocolate!! A churro is a type of deep fried ring doughnut.

Tuesday, February 2nd
19:00 hours .- Mass in honor of Nuestra Senora de la Candelaria.
Friday, February 5th
18:00 hours .- Floral Offering to Our Lady of Candelaria.
Saturday, February 6th
Pilgrimage in Honor to Our Lady of Candelaria from the bus stop heading towards the dam.

Sunday, February 7th
At 7:00 hours .- Rosario de la Aurora Departure from the Church of San Antonio by the usual route.
At the end of Rosario de la Aurora .- Chocolate con churros free for all attendees.
At 10:00 am .- Diana by the Band of the Municipal School of Salobreña, directed by D. Joseph Young, will travel the main streets ofLobres.
At 12:00 hours .- Mass in Honor of Nuestra Señora Virgen de la Candelaria. Then .- Solemn Procession with the image of Our Lady Virgin of the Candelaria and San Jose.
At 14:30 hours .- Food Popular in Chamber of the House of Culture enlivened by the band “Seven Blue”.

A las 18:00 horas.- Ofrenda Floral a Ntra. Virgen de la Candelaria.

A las 11:00 horas.- Tendrá lugar la salida de la III Romería en Honor a Ntra. Virgen de la Candelaria desde la parada de autobuses con dirección a la Presa.

Domingo ,7 de Febrero
A las 7:00 horas.- Rosario de la Aurora
Salida desde la Iglesia Parroquial de San Antonio por el recorrido habitual. Al finalizar el Rosario de la Aurora.- Chocolate con churros gratis para todos los asistentes.
A las 10:00 horas.- Diana por la Banda de la Escuela Municipal de Salobreña, dirigida por D. José Pareja, recorrerá las principales calles de Lobres.
A las 12:00 horas.- Santa Misa en Honor de Ntra. Sra. Virgen de la Candelaria.
A continuación.- Solemne Procesión con las imágenes de Ntra. Sra. Virgen de la Candelaria y San José.
A las 14:30 horas.- Comida Popular en el Recinto de la Casa de la Cultura amenizada por la orquesta “ Seven Blue”.
