Beginning on 8th June (this year) one of the largest celebrations of the year in Granada Corpus Christi attracts thousands of people a day to eat, drink, promenade and enjoy the day. At night the crowds filter down to the fun fair set up adjacent to the traditional area of the feria.
The religious festival is celebrated throughout Spain but within Andalucia Granada is probably the best place to head to for the celebrations. Traditionally the festival involves parades through the towns and cities but in Granada it is combined with the City’s annual feria which provides the focal point for most people’s festivities.
The Festival of Corpus Christi in Granada begins on Monday night at midnight, at which time the lights of the entrance gate of the feria are turned on and lasts until the 15th of June. The Feria and Corpus Christi are only about 60km from tghe Costa Tropical and well worth the visit.
