As La Herradura is part of the municipality of neighbouring Almunecar most of the fiestas in La Herradura are the same. The fiestas usually have connection to local Saints (these are local holidays) and general religious holidays and national Bank Holidays such as Christmas and Constitution day respectively.

1st of January New Years Day.

Carnaval – celebrations for the same historic and religious reasons as Rio di Janeiro, Brazil, 40 days before Easter and finishing on Ash Wednessday. but on a much smaller scale. You will probably have to really do some on the ground research to find the events as they are not well publisised beforehand.

19 March, St Joseph’s Day, the patron saint of La Herradura:
Its the annual festival and celebrations in La Herradura, where you will find a range of cultural and sporting events. At night, the place to go is the fair ground, beside the beach, in the Andrés Segovia promenade. There is a religious procession from the church which passes through the old quarter of the village.
Easter week is celebrated in March or April, being holidays thursday and friday .
May
1st of May, Labour Day
Cruces de Mayo – 3rd May each year Spanish residents celebrate summer solstice by displaying fresh blooms of flowers around their neighbourhoods. With music filling the air, the streets and squares are decorated, people dress up in their traditional costume, and the scent
June
23rd & 24th of June, Dia St Juan (local, but common to all beach towns and takes place over several days). Celebrations begin on the 23rd and last well into the following day, this day being a holiday to recover from the night before. The celebrations take place on the beaches along the coast where there are fireworks and bonfires.
July
16th July, Procession of the Virgen El Carmen. Celebrating the day of the protector of sailors this is one of the most important festivals during the summer season, and the town is full of visitors many from local towns who still have family on the coast.

Fiestas Patronales de Almunecar in honour of la Virgen Ntra. Sra de la Antigua – usually around this time you would expect the fair to be in town as well as the town celebrates its Saint’s Day.

1st of November is All Saint´s day, people that have passed are remembered.
International Classical Guitar Competition – Andres Segovia (as Andres Segovia made his home in La Herradura this holds a special significance here)
