Almunecar has a large variety of restaurants, clubs and bars to choose from.

As well as international menus there are a broad range of specialist restaurants in Almunecar that cater for most tastes from an Argentinian Steak restaurant to Vietnamese food and include Chinese, Indian, Italian, French and of course Spanish.

The food and menus in Almunecar feature a lot of fresh fish with prawns, octopus, squid and sea bass being very popular as well as paella. The salads and fresh fruit are also plentiful and often grown locally (particularly avocados, mangos and chirimoyas).

Unlike the restaurants which tend to be scattered across the town most of the nightlife in Almunecar occurs in the center or in the section of beaches close by. The popular places to go tend to change from time to time and season to season and it is very dependent on personal taste, it is, however, if your impression of Spain has been shaped by areas such as Benidorm and the Costa Blanca you may be surprised by what you find as it is very unusual to find English style bars with quiz nights, karaoke or even football games, indeed in Almunecar unlike Nerja there are few businesses owned by English residents and the entertainment is more typically Spanish. In the summer the most popular bars are located near the main beaches close to the center of town and they attract a broad range of age groups. It is in this area, particularly Paseo Altillo near the pedestrian center of the town and and fanning out east and west along the beach promenades of Playa San Cristobal and Playa Valilla that most Spaniards can be seen strolling along.

With the nights being very warm in the summer the nightlife is a lot more active than in the winter and in the summer late at night the local water park Aquatropic in Almunecars Playa Velilla area reopens as a popular night club AquaNoche – but people do not start arriving until about 12:30 am. Some of the nicest restaurants to relax at are those on the beach where at night you can listen to music or the waves against the shore and watch the reflection of lights and the moon.
