Costa Tropical New Connection to Granada Open

In typical Spanish style it was announced yesterday that the final link in the new motorway being built from the Costa Tropical to the exisiting motorway whih abruptly stops south of Granada and about 15km from the coast would be opened this afternoon. Many promises have previously been made about opening dates but at last it appears to be imminent.

The new connection will, it is predicted, create thousands of jobs in the region both around Motril on the Costa Tropical and in Granada both within the industrial, commercial and tourism sectors. The most immediate and noteable affect will be reduced traffic delays at the peak times during the summer as Spanish travel to the Costa Tropical from inland cities for their holidays in the coastal resorts.

With Corpus Christi, a major festival in Granada just weeks away hopefully I will be able to get up to Granada in under the usual 45 minutes or so.
