Costa Tropical – Just Say I Do

While walking along the beaches of Almunecar this evening I came across the newly wed couple in the photo.  Having first posed for photos on the beach they later walked on up to the Mirador Cruz del Santo, which is Almunecar’s version of the Balcon de Europa found in Nerja. Atop this outcrop of rock is another rock on which a large cross has been firmly placed and which is illuminated at night.

In the town itself I came across a large group of people which dressed in bright flamenco dresses looked as if they could be providing the entertainment for the celebrations once the bride and groom finally decended.

I have only been to a small handful of Spanish weddings while here and they have largely been like English weddings with a couple being very impressive and lavish. It appears that in Spain comparable weddings are cheaper – particularly items such as catering.  A Spanish wedding can easily be combined with the honeymoon making it less stressful after the wedding as there will be no need to make the next day flight with a hangover.

On a related theme with Spain still being gripped by an economic crisis the number of Spanish divorcing has actually declined – whether this is a silver lining to the cloud of the crisis is doubtful, probably couples are still having their problems just at this time it does not make financial sense to divorce.
