Costa Tropical Holidays Whatever Time of Year

Costa Tropical holidays do not have to stop at the end of August and with the Costa Tropical’s excellent climate and the range of activities to keep you occupied it is the perfect holiday destination for tourists from all over the world.

When considering a holiday destination climate and weather is high on everyone’s list of priorities. Here on the Costa Tropical we have an excellent climate – the WHO (World Health Organization) has declared the climate to be one of the best in the world. The climate, from which the Costa Tropical has gained its name is unique in Europe and as a result we enjoy the warmest winters in mainland Europe .

With about 320 days of sunshine a year even if you visit in winter you are almost guaranteed to go home with a bit of a tan, however, most people outside of the main summer season do not come here just to lie in the sun but to explore this beautiful and distinct section of coastline where the mountains meet the sea.

Many visitors use their rental properties on the Costa Tropical just as a base to go and visit the local villages in the hills many of which date back to before when the area was occupied by Arabs. The Alpujarras and the magnificent city of Granada are both within easy reach. There are also numerous trails through the hilly countryside behind the coastal towns of Almunecar and Salobrena. Doing such walks are ideal in spring and autumn.

Other popular but more physical activities that continue beyond the summer into the autumn include windsurfing, kite surfing and scuba diving.

If you are a winter sports enthusiast then the nearby Sierra Nevada ski resort (one hour’s drive from the coast) is definately worth a visit. Located on the northern side of Spain’s highest mountain range this resort is ideal for good intermediates to beginners. There are some black runs as well and if visiting for just a week the opportunity to be able to snowboard down a black run or two in the morning and then head off to do some kitesurfing in the afternoon – or just sit and recover from the morning on the beaches of Salobreña should not be ignored.
