• Five metre shark caught off the coast of Marbella

- Could explain why no one is in the sea here! I know a few divers in the area off Almunecar on the Costa Tropical and after 15 years spear fishing they have still not seen a shark. This one was caught much closer to the Atlantic and even there it is very unusual.

• Peseta spending spree in Teruel

- They say that there was lots of black (undeclared)money not declared or changed at the time of the introduction of the euro – although not legal tender these days anyone who disposed of their old pesetas is probably kicking themselves. Still, if coming on holiday to Andalucia bring euros.

• Good weather forecast for the May Bank Holiday in Spain

- So So far the temperatures at lunch time on Saturday have not reached 30 on the Costa Tropical but are a comfortable 25 degrees – still can’t see anyone in the water yet
