Almunecar Jazz Festival 2009

This weekend brought jazz back to Almunecar with various artists performing near the center of Almunecar just below the castle in the area of Parque Manjuelo. This festival has been well attended by the Spanish locals and visitors from Granada as well as foreign residents.
With it already being the second half of July the temperatures are really starting to warm up and many Spanish start their summer holidays this weekend meaning rentals apartments in Almunecar as well as supermarkets were full by early evening on saturday.

The Almunecar Jazz festival was not the only event this weekend as Almunecar and Salobrena (La Caleta) were celebrating the local Saint’s Days in the traditional way by carrying a statute out to sea in a small fishing boat and celebrating with fireworks along the Costa Tropical but many of the people were not here for the jazz or fiestas or fairs just to find a spot next to the sea on which to lay a towel and lie back and enjoy the fresh air and relatively cooler weather than found inland which is starting to heat up this time of year.
